Own brother As a co-driver

Aki’s co-driver is his older brother Miika Teiskonen. Miika has been Aki’s co-driver since the beginning of his career with the exception of a few rallies in the late 90´s.

Miika works as a crime inspector in the police of Mikkeli, middle Finland. He has been able to combine work and sports easily, thanks to a flexible employer and free work.
“We work independently and at the own pace, so it has been easy to get days off in the rally weekends,” Miika tells.

Day job and Miika’s first child, born in last fall, keep him so busy that he can take part in the team´s activities only during the rallies.
“I’m sole co-driver and I arrive at the competitions usually day before the start. Of course I talk with the team and I give my own opinions, but I can’t take part in testing and things like that,” he tells.

At his free time Miika keeps himself in shape roller skating, skiing and playing floorball. Good physical condition is important also for co-driver.
“Good condition affects also the head. When you’re in good shape you can concentrate better and overweight would also affect the cars movement,” he says.

During the rallies all Miika’s attention goes in reading the notes.
“I really don’t have time to excite the speed. If Aki looses control, I usually don’t notice it before we have stopped,”

Miika tells he is calmer and more deliberative of the brothers.
“Though Aki has also left his worst blazes behind as he has got older,” he tells.

Honesty and openness are things he appreciates in the other people.
“Maybe it’s partly because of this job that I have learnt to appreciate honest people”, he laughs.
