Teiskosten rallihistoria:

Vuosi 2005 - ensimmäinen MM-kausi

Vuosi 2004 - vaiherikas kausi

Vuosi 2003 - näyttöjä tulevaa kautta varten

Vuosi 2002 - A-Juniorina

Vuosi 2001 - kausi alkoi lupaavasti

Teiskosen kausi 2003

Vaihderikas kausi on ohitse ja paljon on opittu uutta vuoden aikana. Kauden alussa lähdin tavoittelemaan pikku n-ryhmän SM-sarjan sijoitusta viiden joukkoon. Jouduin aloittamaan melkeinpä alusta, sillä en ollut aikaisemmin ajanut rallia etuvetoisella autolla. Valitsin ajokiksi Honda Integran, joka valinta osoittautuikin varsin hyväksi. Auto toimi koko kauden kiitettävästi ja opittuani etuvedon niksit sillä syntyi myös hyvää tulosta.

SM-sarja

Kausi käynnistyi Arctic Lappland Rallyn merkeissä Rovaniemellä. Kisa sujui kohtalaisesti lähinnä etuvetoautoon totuttelun merkeissä. Sijoituin luokassa kahdeksanneksi, joten SM-sarjan aloitus oli varsin tyydyttävä. Lapuan SM-rallissa en päässyt vauhtiin, jäin muutaman sekunnin viimeisestä pistesijasta. Talvikauden päätös kisassa Mikkelissä alkoi jo näkyä merkkejä paremmasta, sijoituin kuudenneksi.

Kesän avaus SM-rallien merkeissä ajettiin Joensuussa, jossa nousin ensimmäistä kertaa palkintopallille. Onnistuneen kisan päätteeksi sijoituin kolmanneksi. Palkinsijoitusten ketju jatkui Tampereella, jossa ajoin luokassa toiseksi. Hyvä vauhti jatkui Uudessakaupungissa, jossa sijoitus oli kolmas. Kauden päätös rallissa Riihimäellä ylsin luokan toiseksi, jolla sijoituksella varmistin SM-hopea mitalin. Kaudelle asettamani tavoitteet saavutettiin ja olen tyytyväinen lopputulokseen.

KV-rallit

Kauden toinen päätavoite oli hankkia kansainvälistä kilpailukokemusta. Toteutimme vuoden aikana kilpailumatkat Eestiin, Belgiaan, Englantiin sekä Italiaan. Eestissä ajoin Hondalla ja pystyin ottamaan luokkavoiton. Belgiassa ajoin sieltä vuokratulla A-ryhmän Opel Astralla. Hyvin alkanut kisa päättyi teknisiin ongelmiin. Keskeyttäessäni olin luokkajohdossa ja
yleiskilpailun toisella tilalla. Englannissa tuli menestystä ihan mukavasti. Osallistuin Pirelli British Open rallisarjan osakilpailuun Citroen Saxo KitCarilla. Lopputuloksissa ylsin yleiskilpailun yhdeksänneksi ja omassa luokassa olin toisena. Italiassa kävin ajamassa yhden kisan Peugeot S1600 autolla, mutta jouduin keskeyttämään hyvin alkaneen rallin ulosajon vuoksi.

Etenimme kauden läpi suunnitelmiemme mukaisesti. Vuoden aikana saamani kokemukset olen pystynyt hyödyntämään tehokkaasti ja antamaan näyttöjä tulevaa kautta varten.

THE ACADEMY

Asquith AutoSport has a special reputation for working with the very best of young drivers, assisting them in realising their full potential and developing their careers.

The team is committed to providing the highest level of support and over the years their drivers have achieved outstanding success.

The ‘first' Asquith junior rally driver was Robbie Head - 1989 to 1992. Robbie drove the Group N Honda Civic, winning the Class on the Open Rally Championship, the team then moved him on to the Sierra Cosworth in which he took Group N victory on the Scottish, Ulster and RAC rallies. Robbie left the team to drive for Ford Motorsport in the Michelin Escort. He continued his career with the Renault works team in Clios and Meganes then as test driver and gravel crew for Richard Burns in the Prodrive WRC team. Now Robbie is one of the Channel 4 WRC presenters.

Mark Higgins - 1994 & 5 - achieved some remarkable results with the Civic, firstly in Group N where he won the class and the junior category on every round of the British Rally Championship, then in Group A trim where he took 1600 victory on the Manx, before taking up his contract with Nissan, winning the BRC in 1997. He has since driven the works Volkswagen Golf and in the year 2000 drove for the works Vauxhall team. During 2001/ 2 Mark has worked with M Sport, the Ford WRC team, as a test driver for the Ford Focus WRC car.

David Higgins - 1995/6 - took class victory on the RAC Rally with the Group N Civic and then progressed to the Group A car, winning the 1600 class on the Vauxhall, Ulster, Manx and RAC. David secured a contract with Prodrive at the end of 1996 and became the BRC Production Champion in '97 and '99. David joined the works Peugeot 106 team at the start of 2000. The highlight of Davids 2001 season was winning the Group N category on the Rally GB. In 2002 David won the American ‘Pro Rally' Championship.

Neil Wearden - 1997 & 8 - achieved outstanding results with the ‘new shape' Group A Civic. The Irish tarmac class Championship victory in '97, a highly impressive performance on his first ever World Championship event, San Remo and 1600 victory on the Network Q RAC were followed by winning the inaugural Super 1600 Championship in 1998. After a year humbling much more powerful cars, Neil left the team to drive a works Vauxhall in 1999 & 2000 and during this time he achieved his first outright International victory. Throughout 2001 Neil continued to impress with several outings in the World Rally Championship, proving himself capable of setting top five stage times.

Niall McShea dedicated the 1999/2000 season to developing and driving the Saxo Kit car, with great success. The 2000 Cork International Rally saw McShea bring the 1600 Saxo home in a superb 6 th overall, (behind 5 full spec WRC cars) winning the Formula Two, Group A and 1600 categories. The end of 2000 bought Niall two outstanding accolades. He was the winner of the inaugural Roger Clark Award and he was also voted the Northern Ireland Motorsports Personality of the Year.In the year 2001 Niall progressed to the World Super 1600 Championship, finishing 3 rd in a Citroën Saxo. For 2002 Niall joined RML for the Junior World Championship, driving their Opel Corsa and is currently competing in the WRC Production Cup

Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala – during 2002 Asquith AutoSport were involved with these two ‘up and coming' young Finnish drivers. Mikko contested two rounds of the WRC in a Super 1600 Renault Clio. On Rally Finland, Mikko gave Renault their first Super 1600 win on the World Championship – an excellent debut event. On San Remo Mikko ran very strongly before an ‘off' with three stages to go. Seventeen year old Jari-Matti showed amazing speed for his age and a programme with the Group N Clio was undertaken in order for him to gain an International licence.

29.09.2003 - Teiskonen succeeded well in England

Trackrod, the second last rally in the National Championship serie of England, was driven in the Yorkshire's beautiful landscape 27-29 of September, 2003. There Aki Teiskonen showed his skills on good performance by driving Citroen Saxo Kitcar S16 in co-operation with the english team, Asquit Autosport. The first touch for the kitcar and english rally went gorgeously.

- Rally was as planned. First time on this kind car gave a new vibrations and I started by seeing other drivers doings. After few special stages I noticed that with my speed I could respond for the local drivers. Car worked excellent and the team operated very well, Aki told about the rally.

- After the first day we saw that we had a chance to the among of top three in out class. Second day we continued accurate driving avoiding mistakes. It worked well without any problems during the rally. I'm satisfied with the end results even the winner of the class got ahead a little. But that was my first rally here and there always has to have something to improve. That was important rally for me and hopefully this success will give new pportunities to drive abroad, Aki summarized

On the final results of the class Aki was second after Kris Meeke. Meeke is leading the England Super 1600 -class and he is also keeping fourth position on the general list which includes all classes.

Aki's ninth position on the general results of the rally is also inconsiderable, because there were a lot of four wheel wind -drivers behind him. Aki's driving was noticed also in the local media in Great Britain.
In a press release he was described "an exciting talent from Finland".

- Now we have to reset England's happenings and start to concentrate fully to the next weekend's rally on Riihimäki. There we have to drive by avoiding mistakes to achieve a class victory and the silver medal on the Finnish Championship serie of the class, determined Aki told about the strategy.

Culmination of the Finnish National rally serie is ahead now and after it we have to make final decisions about the next year. What and where on next season is still open. There are several projects on the way, but let's tell more about them after this season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15.09.2003 - Teiskonen third on the Finnish National championship points

The second last rally of the Finnish National rally serie in Uusikaupunki was a tight competition of seconds from the beginning to the end as previous rallies were also.

- I started the rally only in the victory on my mind like always. For the total situation of the serie points it was really important to keep Jarno Kinnunen and Tomi Lantta behind on this rally, Aki clarified his tactics.

Honda Civic driver, Kosti Katajamäki, who is participating to junior's world championship serie, entried also to the Uusikaupunki rally. He took the top position on the second SS, and kept it to the end of the rally. Timo Mäenpää took second position and ensured National Championship of the class. Aki had a good fight with Marko Nieminen on the three last SS. Marko had to give up a little and Aki got third position. Aki was only three seconds behind Mäenpää.

-It was tight fighting with Marko, but I succeeded to turn it for us on the last two SS. Generally I'm satisfied with the results, but I also feel that this wasn't really my best day. Tire selection wasn't good on the first SS and braking poinst on the corners wasn't on places during the day. These easy mistakes took important seconds. But through the small difficulties we received a third position on the total point table of the serie. That gives us a strong motivation to the last rally on the Riihimäki, Aki told about the day.

Aki improved his driving and speed all the time during the day. On the last SS, number eight, Aki achieved his best speed, driving the best time of the class. He beat Katajamäki, who is a professional rally driver, with 1.4 second. The same SS gave a position of 16th in the general class and that has to keep as a really good achievement.

-Now we have to start to prepare the team to Riihimäki rally, were the rest of the medals will be dealt, Aki thought.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13.07.2003 - Teiskonen reached second position in small N-group of the EXIDE Rally

Finnish National Championship rally, EXIDE, took place in Hämeenkyrö. It offered a tough competion of the victory of a small N-group. After the rally in Joensuu, brothers decided to improve their speed and thus they drove their best position of the season's national rallies.

Rally started well from the first meters. As a one of the top drivers in the class, Aki got the touch to a top speed immediately. The fastest drivers started to separate from others after two special stages. On the fifth and sixth SS had rain showers which made attacking against Raikkonen and Maenpaa a little bit more difficult. On the last SS Aki drove 5.2 seconds faster that Maenpaa and made a best time for the SS, but it was not enough at this time. After all Aki reached second position on the total results and was only 5.1 seconds behind Maenpaa.

This was a good competition. We drove all what our Honda Integra allowed us to go. I was able to made a mistakeless driving and also notation was exact, so, we succeeded quite well. Rain showers took the power from our best attack to the peak position and despite of our fastest time on the last special stage, we couldn't beat Maenpaa, this time. But there is nothing which you could do for the weather, sometimes it gives, sometimes it takes something, but such kind the motor sport is, Aki told.

To the next rally in Uusikaupunki we have to find a new medicines to squeeze a little bit more speed. We need to continue well started medal series and we would like to get a golden crown for the medals, Aki thought.

Brothers next rally will take a place in Uusikaupunki in the beginning of the September. Driving touch will be kept up by testing equipments and looking for those medicines which Aki mentioned earlier.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

08.06.2003 - Teiskonen reached good positions in a rally of Joensuu and Jyväskylä Asphalt sprint

Summer season starting in the Finnish National Rally Serie was very succesfull for Aki and Miika. Demanding gravel roads in the neighbourhood of Joensuu fitted well for brothers. Guys clarified a speedy jumping rally without any mistakes.

Top positions were behind tough competition starting from the early beginning. There were no space for any mistakes during the rally. Aki made a mistakeless performance and the car was unbelievable reliable and good. On the finish line had deserved smiles, they reached third position in the group of small N after the harmonious driving. That was the first time during the career when they reached a medal in the general class. That was possible only because of active practising and car developing. During the spring break of National serie, they participated to the rallies in the Estonia and Belgium and this kept the good touch for driving.

- Beautiful rally after all, daring crossings which asked a great courage. Today we drove all we could but still there is chance to improve because two competitors were ahead of us on the total results. Altogether, now it is easy to continue on July in Tampere Rally to get higher position, thought Aki after the rally.

Asphalt Sprint 7 of Jyvaskyla, which is one of the Puustelli Sprint Serie, took place on 8th of June. Aki won his own class with the difference of 0,2 second before the senior, Jouko (Jokke) Kallio.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27.05.2003 - International rallies in Estonia and Belgium

We participated with the co-driver, Mr. Aki hietala, to the DIO Tallinn Rally in Estonia on 4th of May, 2003. Rally was very succesful for us, we got a victory of the group N2 and reached 20th position on general class.

DIO Tallinn Rally was my first international rally. Car was excellent and in the driving was not any problem. Mr. Eero Räikkonen borrowed his co-driver, Mr. Aki Hietanen, to me and Aki gave valuable guidance in notes making and driving with them.

Beside of collecting international experience on the rally, we tested also a new PROTRAC-chassis in our Honda rally car. Team is very satisfied with the test results.

Belgium

Last weekend of May we participated with Miika into the 48th Police Rally in Belgium. Our class was MIXED. We were allowed to participate because of Miika, since one of the crew has to be a police man. We rent the car from Belgium company of FASSPORT. The car was Group A Opel Astra.

My first rally on asphalt started very well. We drove second best times of the MIXED class on the special stages. On the special stage number five we were holding second position of the rally in among of all competitors.

Unfortunately we ended the rally after the special stage number six. Car had a problem in the fuel system, and we were not allowed to repair it because of service forbiddance at that phase of the rally.

But driving on asphalt was very interesting and as general, I'll try to compete abroad always when it is possible to gather international experience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16.03.2003 - The best result of the season in St. Michel

To the last national championship rally of the winter season in St. Michel we started with all targets in our mind. I planned to get a clean performance and thus to find better speed also.

Testing what we made after the last, Lapua, rally gave results what were needed. Notation was accurate and the driving was more firm and courageous than before. There is still something to improve on my driving concluded from my two spinning which were not anyhow remarkable for the final results. Time what they took was around ten seconds. Car was excellent as well as tires were. I finished the rally the way I was planned, steadily. The finishing position, 6th, is good and it gives points which guarantees a low starting number for the summer rallies.

The break between the rallies we will use for testing, if weather allows us to do so. Car will be serviced and maintained fully as well as new performance parts will be installed. Car as well as the crew has to be ready for the challengies in the beginning of the May when we have a next rally in Tallinn, Estonia.

After the winter season I could say that we are coming closer to the top speed in our class and during the summer we will reach it. Targets which were set-up before the season, were achieved, which is proved by our point account. Our direction has being forward all the times and that makes me confident for the summer rallies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23.02.2003 - Inexperience was shown in Aki’s and Miika’s driving in Lapua

We started to Lapua’s Finnish championship rally well prepared. Everything possible was done with car service and other competition preparation. We were facing completely new competition and new type of roads. We started without presure and went to make our own best driving.

Three out of six special stage came off fairly.

When we started the first special stage the atmosphere was good, but driving didn't go as expected. There was some diffidence and over driving. We fall behind of the leading speed and it only got better sometimes during the competition. Minor experiense in notation was shown, there wasn't trust to notes and to driving. There were nothing wrong with notes, but we just didn't drive as fast as notes showed, the speed wasn’t just enough. For those reasons we couldn't expect any better position. We fall 12 seconds out of the last point position, but that’s the way it goes.

Luckyly we had some bright moments during the day. In special stages two, five and six we drove satisfyingly. We were left about 5 to 10 second of the top of the class. We discovered that we weren't after all so far of the top speed ones we get all the little things working. During the competition we didn't suffer any friction problems because of the right tire selection.

Careers second start in notation rally brought more valuable experience. There is a thight competition in our class, so there is no change to give up in any division, otherwice we don't get the needed points.

The tenth position in Finnish championship points proves good starting number to winter season’s last competition

The next and winter seasons last competition will be held in Mikkeli on March 14.-15. Before that we have a lot to do, so that we could get better speed. Car will be serviced and the testing will be started during next week. We aim to 4-5 training days before Mikkeli, hopefully we find the needed confidense for driving.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27.01.2003 - Aki Teiskonen Started well a Finnish Championship serie on the season 2003

The first rally of the season 2003 on the Laplands snow banks gave points to Aki Teiskonen who started the very first time in the N-group.

The first day of the rally happened the most time consuming problems. Because of the overheating of the engine and others snow dust, several minutes were lost. The worst thing was when in the middle of a special stage suddenly started a snow storm, which took all the visibility and therefore all chance to the top positions were gone. After six special stages Aki was on the 19th position.

The second day of the rally Aki decided to get a point position. There was no any bigger problems on the driving, even there were some reindeers here and there on the track. Couple times car rested against a snow bank, but those didn't affect anyhow to the results of the rally.

A focused driving finally gave a nice results. Aki finished the rally among of top ten, keeping 8th position. This result was satisfactory one with the fact that this was the first rally for Aki with the front wheel drive car in the rally with note lines.
